Have you ever struck someone in a fit of anger or self-defense? If so, did you live to regret it?
Both, yes. Can't say I regret it, and... how can I answer this question if I didn't live/survive? XD

Writer's Block: I'm off to see the wizard

Are there any movies that you absolutely loved when you were younger that you've watched again and found awful or ridiculous?
Oh jeez, I have just the one! Although, it's not really something loved.

For some reason I could have sworn Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland scared me as a kid, so when I saw it re-released on DVD I picked it up to examine just what was frightening about it.
This was spurred by my re-watching Fern Gully when it happened to be on TV and seeing a very odd, obvious visual parallel with the stuff I make now.

... Maybe I got it mixed up with another animated movie, or I was sure an easy kid to scare. = = The plot was a little jumbled and some of the expressions in the movie were wonderfully (or terribly, depending on how you look at it) old and felt obscure.

Totoro is still fantastic. Whatever.

There is a baby laughing and crying/screaming in this song. rofl wat.

Writer's Block: Signature Style

music: 羅刹国 -rasetsukoku- + Dir en grey

How would you describe your personal style? Is there a celebrity whose style you admire and/or emulate? How do you update your wardrobe without breaking your budget?

Style is such a weird word. I don't know where the line ends with "style" and just "copying." Maybe someone's "style" is just how well they can mash together influences and create something that can pass as "new" and "different." :/

That wasn't really directed only toward clothing. How would I describe my "personal style"... I've never put a specific word to it. It seems to be unquestionably "artsy," whatever that means. It would be kind of appropriate, wouldn't it ☆ Personal style, in my opinion, should be about drawing the inside to be presented on the outside. Or making a disguise. Whichever is more convenient.
The outfit (I do mean the whole head-to-toe) has to all work together and be interesting for me somehow. For the sake of convenience, I seem to wear primarily black, white, and gray (grey?). It makes it easier to mix+match everything :'D And I'm fond of items or outfits that have contrasting elements to them – masculine/feminine, flowing/constructed, loose/fitted, negative/positive, etc. I love subtle details too, so I have something new to see if I look closely. I don't like logos or words on clothing; I'd rather have a solid color or pattern, like stripes or plaid. But it's all got to be comfortable because I don't really see a point in wearing something and making yourself suffer XD;

Music obviously is a big influence... by music I mean the songs' overall feel and lyrics, the album covers. By extension the musicians themselves are an influence. And by extension of that, I like looking at Japanese street fashion and 'alternative' fashion. I also find it interesting to look at people I see around, especially on-campus. Magazines, obviously, I look through. And manga (LOLNERD). And whatever somehow comes together in my head. I think that covers everything.

Sales are a good thing. And avoiding stores that are more 'expensive' is also a good way to prevent too much "OH MY GOD, THAT MUCH?!" scenes. But, I'm a horrible person and if I really really like it after enough consideration, I'll buy it almost no matter what = 3=; But, I think it's more important to have some things you really love and are really versatile rather than many things that you don't enjoy that much or are those weird one-off items you can't really incorporate into much of anything. And when the money runs out, that's just too frickin' bad – either I need to work more, or I just don't present the opportunity for me to see something I would really want.

And I has pictures of what I'm talking about, of course!Collapse )

Writer's Block: Love is deaf

Jan. 6th, 2010 | 03:57 pm
music: GIGPIG BOOGIE + miyavi

Could you spend the rest of your life with someone who had horrific taste in music? How important is it to you to share your love of music with a good friend or romantic partner?

Well... to be completely fair, I probably have horrific taste in music myself XDDD! It's all a matter of perspective anyway. I could probably learn to appreciate something about their music and hopefully likewise.

I think it's important, because it kind of lets you have an understanding about that person – like some people aren't going to be into loud, screaming music and the people into that type of music might not like super sugary love songs. It may surprise you who listens to what, because not everyone dresses/behaves to the "uniform" of whatever genre(s) of music they listen to. And if you have a shared or similar taste in music, you can talk about it with someone who's actually interested, go to shows, and maybe get recommendations for music you wouldn't have found yourself :]
What is a real bummer though is when the person tries to force their musical tastes on you = =;; I always worry if I'm causing someone torture when I'm listening to something on the speakers that they're not really into...

'Horrific taste in music' shouldn't be a deal breaker with a person if everything else is good. It's just... for me, it would probably be hard because I'm kind of dependent on music... >>;;

Well... anyway... that's what headphones are for...! :'D
